FRANKFORT- The 2019 session just wrapped up, but one lawmaker is already looking ahead to 2020.

Senate Majority Floor Leader Damon Thayer, R-Georgetown, says he'll be prefiling a bill Monday to deal with reforming the Teachers Retirement System.

"There's not been a clean TRS only bill that makes these kind of reforms that I'm proposing," he said. "I want to start the conversation up again on Monday."

Thayer says the bill will take parts from previous pension bills.

"It will have elements of Senate Bill 1 and Senate Bill 151 from last session," he said. "It is a Teachers Retirement System bill only, but I'm going to put it out there so I can request a score from the Teachers Retirement System and put it out there for a possible special session or something to talk about for next session."

Gov. Matt Bevin told a Bowling Green radio station he would not be calling another special session to deal with pension reform, after the special session in December didn't result in any movement on pension reform.

With the bill being prefiled, lawmakers and stakeholders are able to discuss and make changes during the interim.

Teacher organizations have said reform needs to happen, but have been adamant they need to be at the table when those changes are discussed.

When the bill is prefiled Monday, it will be bill request 1.
