KENTUCKY — Veterans Day is a federal holiday, which means there will be no mail delivery today, but businesses and organizations are delivering in a different way for service members and their families.

Most banks will be closed, and the National Park Service is also waving entrance fees at over 400 parks across the country today.

From free food to discounts on travel and shopping, there are dozens of freebies and discounts available for service members on Veterans Day.

Here in Kentucky, there are a host of perks that veterans can take advantage of. Most free meals and veteran discounts are dine-in only offers, and nearly all offers require proof of military service.

At Applebee's, active-duty military, veterans, Reserves, and National Guard receive a free meal when dining in from a special menu. Similar specials are offered at Beef 'O' Brady's, City Barbecue, Red Robin and Outback Steakhouse locations across the state—just to name a few.

In the mood for a cup of joe? Free coffee is available for veterans, service members and spouses at Starbucks, Scooter's, Krispy Kreme and Circle K.
