BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Warren County Public Schools are returning to school with masks as the hot topic of discussion.

What You Need To Know

  • Masks are optional for all students and staff in Warren County Public Schools

  • Superintendent Rob Clayton strongly suggests they're worn

  • They are mandatory on all buses and other public transportation

  • Some parents are torn on if their child will wear one

Parents are all over the spectrum from against to unsure. One parent who had their mind made up is Angie Doss.

"My preschooler will continue to not wear a mask. He hasn't been under a mask mandate this entire time," said Doss

Others like Amberly Ford aren't quite sure what to do but have factors to think about such as previous situations.

“I lost my daddy in January," said Ford. "So, I don't want to lose anybody else, so I am leaning towards a mask, but not 100%, so I don't know what to do," said Ford.

In Warren County's most recent update from Superintendent Rob Clayton, the decision to wear masks in school are still optional for all. However, he has strongly suggested wearing masks. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that everyone in K-12 schools wear face masks, regardless of whether or not they are vaccinated.

Ford said her family has been wearing masks in every situation since the pandemic started.

“We had masks extra masks, quarantined and did everything we were supposed to," said Ford.

Others like Doss are choosing to let it play out and trusting those in charge.

“I think our school board, our city our governor have all done a good job," said Doss. "Trying to listen to the science and make the best decisions for everyone."
