“July was a very fast, heavy start to COVID-19 in Lexington. We had our highest one day total ever on Monday, 62 new cases, and the previous high was 46. So that's a significant increase,” said Kevin Hall, spokesperson for the Lexington Fayette County Health Department.

The Bluewater Diagnostic Laboratory is now providing free tests at Shiloh Baptist Church in Lexington. This new testing location will allow for both walk-up and drive-up testing with no cost at all to the community. Bluewater can process up to 1,000 tests per day.

Health insurance information may be requested, but it is not required to receive testing. No appointment is necessary at this location, the testing is available to anyone.

“We need people to understand that this isn't over. I get it, you're tired of talking about COVID-19 and tired of hearing about it, you're tired of living at your life in this COVID-19 world. This is our reality and you need people to pitch in and do simple things like staying away from other people, social distance, wearing your mask, washing your hands.” Hall said.

Testing at Shiloh Baptist Church, 237 East Fifth St., will be available Friday, July 10 from 2-8 p.m. and Saturday, July 11 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Face masks and hand sanitizers will be provided for those being tested.
