Louisville is one of ten cities selected by the “Accelerator for America,” program.

We are seeing a lot of individuals and families and households very significantly, directly, impacted,” Erin Waddell told Spectrum News 1. $50,000 will be added to the “One Louisville: COVID-19 Response Fund.”

“This pot, in addition to several of our other assistance programs, typically award up to about $1000 per household, of assistance. Not everyone uses that $1000, maybe some families only need $500 or some need $800,” Waddell added.

To date, the One Louisville fund has helped more than 2,200 households with rent and utility assistance.

Currently, there is a moratorium on evictions in Louisville but tenants can still collect late fees. The money can also be used for food assistance for those who qualify.

“It’s direct financial assistance for families who have been impacted in some way or another through this crisis,” Waddell said.
