  • City has more than 1,100 cases

  • Up 182 in a week

"This time last week 19% of the cases were in the Hispanic community. It's up to 24%, it is spreading and is spreading fast," explains Kevin Hall, Communications Officer with Lexington-Fayette County Health Department.

The city now has 1,129 confirmed cases and 20 deaths. From Monday, June 8, through Sunday, June 14, Lexington reported 182 new cases and 6 new deaths. The overall total of cases as of Monday, June 15 is 1,129 confirmed cases and 20 deaths.

"So with our contact tracing we're able to see that this isn't limited to just one area of town, it's throughout Lexington, there are no specific hotspots that are causing the increase, when you look at say, April, and it was the Federal Medical Center that was driving the numbers. Right now, it is everywhere in Lexington is spreading among households, it's spreading person to person. It's out there and this is why you hear these officials, including the Governor and the Mayor, saying frequently cover your mouth, wear that cloth mask over your face of your mouth and nose. Wash your hands frequently and stay at least 6 feet apart from others," adds Hall.
