KENTUCKY — Kentucky's Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman says the Cabinet for Education and Workforce Development has new measures in place to help those in the Commonwealth who may experienced difficulties filing for unemployment.
Coleman says are now 12 regional phone lines for people to call with questions related to unemployment claims and state workers are processing thirty times the normal workload for unemployment claims.
Coleman also reports that more staff in state government have been re-assigned to help respond to calls from Kentuckians who have reportedly been laid off because of the coronavirus.
The state implemented a new schedule that requires claims to file based on the first letter of their last name.
The schedule is:
- Sunday: A-D
- Monday: E-H
- Tuesday: I-L
- Wednesday: M-P
- Thursday: Q-U
- Friday: V-Z
- Friday: If you missed your day
The seven-day waiting period to obtain unemployment insurance benefits has been waived for the time being.
And work search requirements have been waived until further notice.
