LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky's first death from the coronavirus was the 66-year-old man from Bourbon County. He was dealing with other issues and not just the coronavirus. Governor Andy Beshear made the announcement Monday at his morning update.

As of Monday morning, Beshear reported there are 21 patients in Kentucky. He says despite the contributing factors in the Bourbon County man's case, he would still be listed as the first coronavirus fatality in the state.

Governor Beshear also announced major changes.  He is ordering the closing of all restaurants and bars, but will have an exception for drive-thrus.  He announced they are working on ways to help with the financial hardship. This is a state-wide order and hopes all restaurants will close Monday by 5:00 p.m.

He is also waiving the waiting period to receive unemployment.  In addition, Beshear announced beginning tomorrow he is closing the capitol to non-essential personnel.

Two state employees, Transportation Secretary Jim Gray and the head of industrial infrastructure, are self-quarantined.
