BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — October is here and people across the commonwealth are getting into the spooky spirit. A Bowling Green woman gets pretty crazy with her ghostly goals—transforming her house into a Halloween nightmare.

What You Need To Know

  • Melanie Chaffin and her family transform their house on Magnolia Street for Halloween every year

  • Visitors can come onto the property to check out all the decorations

  • The family hands out candy every Friday throughout October

Melanie Chaffin said, “We all love Halloween. We love to see everybody’s reaction and enjoyment from it.”

Chaffin and her family turn their house on Magnolia Street into something spooky every year.

Chaffin said, “It’s probably 12 or 13 years. I’ve done lost count, but it gets bigger every year.”

Putting everything up isn’t easy. It takes Chaffin several days of labor and thousands of dollars to make fright night a reality.

For Chaffin and her family, it’s worth the effort.

Chaffin said, “We get to see all these kids running around, happy, getting candy.”

Not only do they put their decorations up during October, they also allow people to come onto their property, if they are brave enough.

Jay Wolfe, a Bowling Green resident said, “This is Bowling Green nostalgia. This has been going on for as long as I can remember. I’ve got my kids in the back, and I thought that they should check this out and see how awesome Halloween decorations can be.”

Chaffin said, “We’re having fun with it, and I know the kiddos are having fun with it.”
