LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Holiday shopping was in full force this weekend with many looking for ways to support local businesses and get the perfect gift. This included those who stopped by the Flea Off Market.
Now spanning two buildings, the indoor holiday market hosted dozens of vendors for the Black Friday Weekend.
Jim McGuire, owner of McGuire’s Mugs, participated all three days and says his wares were a hit.
“A lot of Christmas gifts. People are buying them two or three at a time, which always makes it better,” McGuire said.
McGuire creates ceramic mugs with locally sourced materials at his home in Richmond. He adds he’s happy to share the hobby which he considers his therapy with others.
Just a few feet away are Tiarra Abell and her wife. The two are selling soaps, bath bombs and over a dozen other homemade products at their business, B Abell Services.
Abell participates in these kinds of markets often and so far, this outing has been a hit.
“Yesterday was really great since it was Small Business Saturday, so that’s always fun,” Abell said. “I like this new building. The venue has been good. We’ve seen some repeat customers and made lots of new customers and connections. “
Both vendors say they’re thankful for the support they’ve received this weekend because it means they’re able to continue making a living doing what they love.
The Flea Off Market will be in downtown Louisville on Dec. 17 and 18 at the Henry Clay building.
