LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Lexington Fraternal Order of Firefighters (FOF) is gearing up for its 92nd Annual Toy Program. Its goal is to collect and distribute toys to kids in time for the holiday season.

What You Need To Know

  • The Lexington Fraternal Order of Firefighters (FOF) will kick off its 92nd Annual Toy Program soon

  • All Lexington fire stations will serve as drop-off points

  • The FOF has an Amazon wish list you can use to shop with too

According to the FOF, last year’s event was a success, with over 2,000 children served. The organization hopes that this year will prove just as successful.

“Our mission as firefighters is to serve the needs of Lexington. The Toy Program is another way to give back to our community and make sure that families have a little extra joy this holiday season,” said Firefighter and FOF President Chris MacFarlane. “The success of the toy program is truly a combined effort.  Without our community donating their time, money, and toys to our program, we would not be able to do this.”

The FOF will accept toy donations from individuals, churches, community and civic groups, plus local businesses. All Lexington fire stations will serve as physical drop-off points. There’s also an Amazon wish list to shop and donate virtually. You can access the wish list through a QR code on the FOF’s Annual Toy Program website.

As for the toys you can give, the FOF will accept items such as dolls, balls, action figures, and games for kids up to 17 years old. All toys should be new and unwrapped. The group will especially appreciate new and used bicycles this year.

For families needing holiday help this season, sign-ups begin Nov. 7 and run until Nov. 15 at 3475 Blazer Parkway, in Lexington on the 2nd floor. The giveaway day is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 17.
