KENTUCKY — The Haunted Attraction Association released its list of the top haunts across the country for 2022, including several locations across Kentucky. From up in Newport to down in Cave City, there are a host of top-quality haunts to see this spooky season. Here are seven of the best from around the state.
Brandenburg

Boasting "monsters, madness, and things that go bump in the night," the Field of Screams is one of the largest horror experiences you can find in Kentucky. The haunt has been sharing scares since 2002 and features a range of experiences including a two-story haunted barn, Forbidden Forest and the titular 6-Acre Corn Maze.
You can get your adrenaline pumping Fridays and Saturdays from now until Oct. 29, 2022. The Field of Screams is open from dusk until 1 a.m.
Cave City

Known for offering escape room experiences year-round, Raven's Cross is also home to the immersive Haunted Village. This haunt is open every weekend in October, and the 2022 iteration will include improvements like new sets, enhanced lighting and spookier sound effects, organizers said.

Eastview

Eastview, Kentucky was founded in 1870. Since then, according to Sinister Tombs organizers, the humble Hardin County town has been haunted by wolves, Native American ghosts and decades of misfortune, all of which play into the award-winning haunted house experience. Whether you believe all of the stories or not, this haunt is one you surely shouldn't miss.
The Sinister Tombs is open every Friday and Saturday from Sept. 16 through Nov. 5. Tickets, including double-take and speed passes, can be purchased online.
Louisville

This award-winning haunt bills itself as an "extreme, interactive and in-your-face touch haunt." If that doesn't scare you away, then spending an autumn night at one of Louisville's longest-standing Halloween attractions may be right up your alley. At a touch haunt, patrons are likely to come direct contact with actors in the close-quarters facility but worry not — safety is top of mind for Haunted Hotel organizers.
Unaccompanied minors are not allowed, and it's recommended that only those ages 18 and up attend. The Haunted Hotel is open every Friday and Saturday from now until Oct. 30, including a few Sundays in October.
2600 Freys Hill Rd., Louisville, Ky. 40299
This lengthy haunt has expanded this year, now spanning 20 acres in EP Tom Sawyer State Park. As the self-proclaimed "longest walkthrough attraction" in Louisville, Grim Trails aims to plunge every patron into a dark, twisted world of fairy tales and folklore.
Endurance is needed, as the half-mile trail may not be for the faint of heart. Grim Trails runs Fridays and Saturdays from Sept. 23 through Oct. 29. Tickets can be purchased online or in person.
Newport

Newport is home to one of the premier haunts in the Cincinnati area. Stationed on the bank of the Ohio River, the USS Nightmare features a range of offerings besides general admission, including the Captain's Extreme Tour, the RIP Experience and a Lights On Matinee that's fit for the younger horror fans.
The USS Nightmare opens for the season on Sept. 16 and runs every weekend through Nov. 5. Some experiences are only available certain days, though, so be sure to check their schedule for more details.
Scottsville
48 Locketts Dream, Scottsville, Ky. 42164
For fear and fun in western Kentucky, you'll want to head to Cemetery Road near Bowling Green. The Skeleton's Lair Scream Park offers four themed attractions: the haunted woods, haunted hayride, haunted house and the 3D-themed house. The haunt is entering its 23rd season, and this year is offering the same pricing used in 2021.
Opening night is Saturday, Sept. 24. Tickets can be found online, and admission grants you entry to all four attractions.
