BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — For Russell Anderson he always grew up on a farm but wasn't sure what kinds he would own when he got older. Now he does and it's The Reindeer Farm that is becoming a must see in the commonwealth.

What You Need To Know

  • The Reindeer Farm in Bowling Green is becoming a holiday must-see in Kentucky

  • The farm has actual reindeer to view

  • Private tours are available as well as general admission

  • It is the largest and only public Reindeer farm in the state

The farm is only two years old and started just a year ago. It is now home to seven Reindeer total.

It's a family affair between his wife and children taking care of them, Anderson said.

“I didn't know they were real at the time to be honest," said Anderson. "We started looking up things and different farms got in contact with some people and soon as I met the reindeer I fell in love.”

Most of Anderson's reindeer come from Alaska. Some families and visitors are shocked to even see them in real life.

Anderson said others felt like he did, initially not knowing that they are real animals. The Wooten family recently visited the far and was very happy with what they saw.

“I was interested to find out that reindeer do live in Bowling Green," said Wooten. "That's not even something I would associate with Bowling Green more north near the arctic circle so it was cool to see them here in Bowling Green.”

The farm serves as the largest and only public reindeer attraction in the state. It is open now through Christmas Eve.

General admission for the farm starts at $12 and private tours are also available as well.
