EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Kevin McCarthy, who was ousted by the far right from his role as House speaker earlier this year, announced Wednesday that he is resigning from Congress altogether at the end of 2023 after 17 years in the House.

McCarthy broke the news Wednesday morning via an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal.
