FRANKFORT- The Kentucky State Capitol was filled Wednesday with children and advocates.

The 15th Annual Children's Advocacy Day was held where hundreds of Kentuckians from across the commonwealth came to urge lawmakers to support the Blueprint for Kentucky's Children.

A rally was held in the Capitol Rotunda where politicians, children, and children's advocacy groups celebrated the passage of laws in Kentucky that helped children.

Kentucky Youth Advocates, who organize the annual event, spoke about the success in legislation they've seen the past couple years.

"Last year, every priority blueprint bill passed the House, passed the Senate and was signed into law by the governor," said Dr. Terry Brooks, Executive Director of Kentucky Youth Advocates. "If you take all the votes in the Senate, and all the votes in the House, over 97 percent of our elected officials cast a vote 'yes' for kids. So in an era where we think about polarization, and bifurcation, and toxicity, isn't it amazing. That in kids issues, last year we batted 100 percent."

Gov. Matt Bevin, R-Kentucky, was also present and spoke at the rally.

"I look at this list, 97 percent is pretty outstanding. Don't even get me started on who are those three percent," Gov. Bevin joked. "In all fairness, sometimes people have reasons in some little things, so I don't want to diss anybody. But these should be 100 percent. Who's not for kids? I mean all of us were one at some point in time."

Several lawmakers were also recognized for their work helping pass child friendly legislation.
