Mayor Greg Fischer (D) announced the end of One Louisville: COVID-19 Response Fund and said fundraising by the effort will be frozen.

Fischer also announced the final list of organizations to receive the remaining monies.

“The latest organizations to receive grants not only do outstanding community work they also either have exemplary African American leadership or their organization makes a point of serving the African American community or both,” Fischer said during a mid-week news conference.

Bates CDC is one organization receiving thousands of dollars to benefit a variety of the services it offers families in the Smoketown neighborhood and throughout Louisville.

Volunteers with Bates cook, package and deliver more than 200 meals, many of them destined for eldery residents.

“There is so much that has been lost and we have to be able to come in and fill the gap to be able to help and build sustainability within our community,” Executive Director Nachand Trabue said while also thanking the mayor and those who donated to the cause.

“It’s a global crisis but we have to come together," Trabue added.

The One Louisville fund has impacted more than 2,400 households and 200 organizations.
