What You Need To Know

  • Louisville protests continue for 11th day

  • Various amenities available to protesters

Besides a shift in tone, protesters had access to several amenities. It didn’t just stop with access to food and water.

Protesters were able to walk to restrooms rather than have to walk blocks to one nearby of a business that would admit them.

Plenty of people took advantage of voter registration tents to make sure they had their voices heard in the voter’s box.

“It’s just an amazing push with people using this opportunity to get more informed and educated,” said Kelley Cunningham of the Voter’s Coalition.

Jefferson Square also had COVID-19 testing kits available to help keep people safe during the pandemic.

A small band of nurses also set up a table and volunteered their off time to make sure the crowd of protesters was looked after.

“We just really wanted to advocated for the protesters because there’s a lot of injuries going on with the protesting,” said Jasmine Turner, a registered nurse with Norton Healthcare. “We wanted to make sure they stay safe and keep them hydrated, offer sunscreen, and other types of protection.”

They were happy to give their time and be a part of something larger.

“It’s heartwarming, to see everybody come together, all races, all creeds, everything,” said another nurse. “It’s beautiful.”
