Lachlan McLean has been working in Louisville media for over 20 years and has been with Spectrum News 1 since the channel debuted in Kentucky. You can see him anchoring the news alongside Amber Smith weeknights starting at 5 p.m.

He got his start in journalism as a college student, serving as News Director of WUVA-FM at the University of Virginia, where he majored in Economics. After a post-graduation stint in Investment Banking, he switched careers and was hired as a Production Assistant at ESPN in Bristol, Connecticut.

He began his on-air television career with jobs in Albany, Georgia and Augusta, Georgia…where yes he got to play Augusta National! He moved to Louisville in 1999, working as a Sports Anchor/Reporter for WHAS11-TV and then Community Relations Director for WBKI-TV. In 2004 he transitioned to radio, hosting of one of the state’s most popular sports talk radio shows on 840WHAS-AM for 11 years.

From 2016-2020, he hosted a daily sports talk show on WHBE-AM (ESPN Louisville).

Lachlan and his wife Carolyn have two teenage daughters. He enjoys playing tennis and rooting for his National Champion Virginia Cavaliers.
