A man in his 30s died overnight after he was found Thursday night in Troy slumped over in a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Troy police.

Officers were called to the scene of a car crash on the 300 block of 9th Street around 11 p.m. when they said they found James Hayes, 35, unresponsive in his vehicle. He was taken to Samaritan Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

Police said their investigation found evidence of a shooting in the area of Rensselaer and 9th streets, and said Hayes drove away from the area before crashing into a parked car.
