SCHODACK, N.Y. -- Could online giant, Amazon, be coming to the Capital Region?

Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin told Spectrum News that Amazon is looking to build a new distribution center -- and the perfect place may be Schodack.

At Monday night's town planning board meeting, McLaughlin says their interested in the Schodack site along Route 9.

If Amazon does come, the company would bring an estimated 800 jobs to the area in addition to the construction jobs needed to build the facility and get it up and running.

McLaughlin tweeted that town officials and the state are looking forward to working with Amazon.

No construction will be moving forward until the project is fully approved and Amazon signs off.
