Governor Cuomo announced a new action by the Department of Financial Services to make sure personal protective equipment fees are refunded to patients.

The new guidance will prohibit extra fees for PPE by healthcare providers.

The governor says the Department of Financial Services has received complaints, many involving dental providers, who charged patients PPE fees or other pandemic-related costs.

Cuomo says that creates another financial burden for New Yorkers who are already struggling. He did not, however, address the impact on providers.
