New tools are available to entrepreneurs in Troy. The Tech Valley Center of Gravity, a business incubator, opened two new facilities Wednesday. The center hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new manufacturing incubator and prototyping center.

Entrepreneurs such as Dwight Cheu, CEO of Jamboxx, seeking to scale up starts have new resources. Cheu is partnering with Troy’s Tech Valley Center of Gravity.

“We make a musical instrument for the disabled,” said Cheu, holding the electronic device modeled after a harmonica.

The Center of Gravity, a not-for-profit business incubator, is celebrating the opening new spaces to support entrepreneurs like Cheu. Much of the circuit design and prototyping was done in conjunction with the Center of Gravity.

“Because it is a musical synthesizer, it can be any instrument so even if you can’t hold or physically blow a tuba, I can be a tuba with this instrument,” said Cheu.

Wednesday, the Center of Gravity debuted two new facilities. The additional resources will help Jamboxx save time by moving some aspects of design and assembly to Troy.

“The people and the expertise that it brings together is really a game changer for us,” Cheu said.

The new Manufacturing Incubator connects entrepreneurs with advice and guidance. The prototyping center gives businesses access to advanced manufacturing equipment including a laser cutter and 3D printer to test and develop products.

“It probably cuts in half the time it takes to bring a product to market with these local resources available right here in Troy,” said Cheu.

The center is home to a variety of new tools, helping inventors build businesses and turn products into profit.
