LOS ANGELES — As a safety precaution, Southern California Edison cut off power to tens of thousands of customer in Ventura County as part of its Public Safety Power Shutoff plan. 

Many of the Mountain Fire evacuees, including those relying on electricity for medical devices, are going to nearby shelters. 

The combination of high winds and dry conditions has caused the Mountain Fire to rapidly spread to over 20,000 acres by Friday.
