EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Dodgers President and CEO Stan Kasten recounts his first phone call with Vin Scully.

“When I first came to work here 10 years ago, I’d known Vin for many years just casually for being with other teams in the National League. My first day being named the president, I got a call from Vin and we had a great chat like every chat with Vin," Kasten said. "That was his standing with everyone. And let’s not forget as great as he was in baseball, he was that great in golf, he was that great in football, he was just the epitome of that skill and that fact that he was able to share it with this many people is a unique privilege that all of us shared, whether you knew him personally or not. We all felt like we knew him personally, and that was a blessing for all of us."
