LOS ANGELES (CNS) — The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose one-tenth of a cent Wednesday to $5.891, the 14th consecutive increase.
The average price has risen 11.7 cents over the past 14 days, including a half-cent Tuesday, following a run of 28 decreases in 30 days totaling 29.6 cents, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 6 cents more than one week ago, 2.9 cents higher than one month ago and $1.737 greater than one year ago. It is 17.9 cents lower than the record high of $6.07 set March 28.
The Orange County average price rose two-tenths of a cent to $5.836, the 13th increase in 14 days. It has risen 12.5 cents over the past 14 days, including seven-tenths of a cent Tuesday.
The Orange County average price is 5.6 cents more than one week ago, 1.7 cents higher than one month ago and $1.72 higher than one year ago. It is 18.3 cents lower than the record high of $6.029 set March 29.
The national average price rose 3 cents Wednesday to a record $4.404.
“The entire country is still experiencing price increases related to the European Union’s proposal to completely ban use of Russian petroleum products, but both oil prices and futures prices have cooled down in the last couple of days, so hopefully that will soon be reflected in prices at the pump,” Marie Montgomery, a public relations specialist with the Automobile Club of Southern California, told City News Service.
