VENICE, Calif. — Kavi Seidman is a senior basketball player at Venice High School.

What makes him special is that he is equally thriving in academics, with a 3.8 grade point average. He has already earned college credit.

He spends much of his free time volunteering, with a full schedule, including basketball practice starting at 6 a.m.
