The best of the best in paddleboarding will be headed to the International Surfing Association World SUP & Paddleboard Championship in Copenhagen from Sept. 16 to 22.

One member of Team U.S.A. is an accomplished photographer who’s shot 10 Olympics, multiple Super Bowls, golf masters, the final cover of Surfer Magazine and much more.

At the age of 50, Donald Miralle happens to also be the oldest (or wisest) member of the team. His age has not slowed his high level skill and athleticism.

At the 2023 world championship, Miralle was the oldest medalist, medaling for prone paddling. He also recently completed another Cataline Classic prone paddling 32 miles from Catalina Island to the Manhattan Beach Pier.

His teammate, Soryn Preston is the youngest team member. The 15-year-old will be competing in stand up paddleboarding.

“It just shows age has not limit to what you can do," Preston said, adding Miralle is an inspiration. "Donald is 50 and he’s absolutely crushing it.”

She adds, once the competition begins the age factor just goes away and they’re all competitors and all a part of Team U.S.A. USA Surfing is fundraising to support the athletes headed to the world championship and you can donate here.
