LOS ANGELES — It may be a little wet and gloomy outside this week, but that would never stop Arleta High School senior Alexia Mejia from doing what she loves. The sport of softball is something that has helped her develop, not only athletically, but emotionally as well.

Mejia shines on the field and in the classroom, balancing a 3.67 GPA with a part-time job, and her role as captain of the team.

It’s her ability to excel in every facet, all while maintaining such a humble and positive attitude, that makes her this week’s Spectrum News 1 Scholar Athlete.
