Twenty years ago, a film crew shot a movie in California’s central coast that has withstood the test of time.

Critics consider “Sideways” as one of the best films of the 2000s.

And after the main character, played by Paul Giamatti, disses merlot wine — connoisseurs still debate the merits of that varietal two-decades later.

The SoCal Scene’s Tara Lynn Wagner recently visited the production locations of the film, and reports that all these years later, “Sideways” still attracts fans who come to retrace the adventure of Miles and Jack, and to sample the excellent wines of the Santa Ynez Valley.

Watch “The SoCal Scene” at 9 p.m. every Thursday on Spectrum News 1 and the Spectrum News app.
