If any place in Los Angeles can be called a melting pot, it has to be Boyle Heights. Established in 1858, it's known as the "Ellis Island of the West."
Over the years, Boyle Heights has continued to evolve, and today the community is predominantly Latino. "The SoCal Scene's" Melvin Robert recently visited with one of Boyle Height's most enduring stars: Award-winning playwright and restaurateur Josefina Lopez, who celebrates the community in everything she does.
