Vania Patino is an Emmy Award-winning multimedia journalist for Spectrum News 1 SoCal.

A Southern California native, Vania grew up surrounded by diversity, always fascinated by how much of the world she could experience through the rich cultures found in her backyard. Her belief in journalism as a public service is the driving force behind her work.

Vania attended California State University, Fullerton, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and served as president of the school’s student chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. Vania embarked on her career path guided not only by her passion to learn, but also by the news itself, which was always on the TV in her immigrant parents' home and played a key role in helping them to navigate life in their new country.

Prior to her reporting career, Vania served as an assignment desk editor at NBC LA and Telemundo 52. Fluent in Spanish, she bridged stories across Los Angeles to reach both English and Spanish-speaking audiences. Throughout her career as a reporter in Amarillo, Texas and Bakersfield, California, she has dedicated herself to covering stories that advocate for solutions and amplify marginalized voices.

When she’s not chasing a story, Vania is probably at a concert, trying out a new restaurant or playing board games with her family. If you’d like to get in touch for a story or simply say hi, you can email her at vania.patinohernandez@charter.com or message her on X (formerly Twitter), Instagram @vaniapatino or Facebook at @VaniaPatinoTV.
