LOS ANGELES — At least 6,000 buildings are at risk of sustaining severe damage during a major earthquake, according to a new report from the Los Angeles Times.
Engineers and seismologists say the structures most at risk are soft-story apartments and non-ductile buildings constructed before 1977.
Residents in buildings that recently underwent retrofitting say they feel more safe, but experts say there’s still a lot of work to be done to better prepare LA for “the big one.”
