EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — This week, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in a case questioning the FDA approval of the drug mifepristone — leading many to wonder about the future fate of the abortion medication.
In 2022, voters approved a ballot measure which enshrines reproductive rights in California, but that doesn’t mean the federal government couldn’t supersede Prop. 1.
“If the federal government has taken a position including that the FDA’s approval of mifepristone under certain circumstances and conditions is not approved, then we have to live with that as well,” said California’s Attorney General Rob Bonta.
“We can’t change that,” he said.
He spoke with Spectrum News’s political anchor, Alex Cohen, about his approach to protecting reproductive rights no matter who is running the country.
The two also discussed how reality and perception can differ when it comes to retail theft.
