Presidential hopeful and California Senator Kamala Harris was on the campaign trail again, this time in another big candidate's backyard.

Harris rallied in Texas over the weekend, home to Beto O'Rourke, a presidential candidate who charmed his way to the hearts of Gen-X voters.

It was a big trip for Harris, not only hitting the Republican playing field but standing toe-to-toe with O'Rourke, whose charisma won record-breaking amounts of campaign dollars.

Harris announced her trip to Texas a day before O'Rourke announced his candidacy.

Georgetown University associate professor Mark Rom said each candidate has strengths.

"A smart guy, but someone who seems to be so personally different from President Trump; he may be able to ride that," Rom said, adding that he believes Harris has better visibility and support.

"Kamala Harris has some real key advantages. I think in some ways that her position in the Senate allows her to demonstrate more national and international issues," he said.

Texas and California will play a key role on March 3, Super Tuesday, of next year when several states hold their primaries, a good indicator of how the elections will turn out.
