COLUMBUS — Spring break is in full swing at COSI, Columbus’ popular science and industry museum.

What You Need To Know

  • There's plenty to explore at COSI

  • New 'Waves of Wonder' exhibit feels like you're under the ocean

  • 'Ocean' exhibit to explore ancient stories of the sea

“Lots of schools are out, people are looking for something fun to do bringing their family and friends to the number one science museum in the country here at COSI,” said Joe Wood, Director of Education Interactions and Performances at COSI.

There’s a new exhibit for people to check out called ‘Waves of Wonder’ where people can imagine they’re under the ocean.

“It’s a virtual world with ocean creatures but then it’s projected onto a flat surface so you can sort of imagine that you’ve gone into a giant aquarium,” Wood said.

This exhibit teaches about different depths of the ocean.

“The fish and other creatures here also respond to guests, so as I move around they may come up to take a look at you,” Wood said.

And the learning doesn’t stop as you leave an exhibit. There are plenty of interactive activities lining the hallways.

“You might see some of our educators out with demonstrations hands on things for you to touch,” Wood said.

One of their most popular exhibits right now is the ‘Ocean’ experience, where you explore the ancient stories of the sea.

“It’s really about experiencing water and feeling the power of water. You actually get to touch water, which our younger guests really appreciate,” Wood said.

There’s even a massive sculpture of Poseidon, which Wood said is a fan favorite.

“We have our submarine, which was an actual working submarine, but guests can now get inside of it. We also have a recreation of a bathysphere, which is a device to explore the deep ocean,” Wood said.

Wood said all the experiences are included with general admission, and their goal is to not only have educational experiences but also have them be engaging.
