LOS ANGELES — It’s been a month since President Donald Trump took over the White House, and he’s trying to deliver on his election campaign promise to cut employees from the federal workforce.
According to data from the Office of Personnel Management, roughly 275,000 federal employees have either lost their jobs or taken a voluntary buyout.
Steven Gutierrez is a representative for the National Federation of Federal Employees and represents around 110,000 unionized employees. He provides some insight into what the past month has been like for federal workers and what he anticipates moving forward.
