The devastating wildifres have interrupted some events, but there are still many happening across SoCal.

Here are some of the events worth checking out:

West Coast Card Show

The first major American card show of the year is taking place from Feb. 13-16 at the Ontario Convention Center. This is an event for both collectors specifically and families looking for a fun experience. In the space, the Los Angeles-based Arena Club — Derek Jeter’s online sports collectibles marketplace — is transforming the collecting experience. Some topics that will be highlighted over the weekend include:

  • the day-to-day highlights of the personal joy in collecting
  • the card market’s rapid evolution
  • the continued rise of tech-driven AI appraisal and blockchain-backed storage in collecting
  • the surging interest from younger generations — driven by Pokémon, Wemby, Caitlin Clark and more

Valentine's Day dining specials

SoCal's countless famed restaurant's offer specially curated menus every February. One example is Merois West Hollywood, which will offer a prefix menu including oysters, Maine lobster spring rolls, a "Love Letter" dessert and more. Reservations can be made here.

Another holiday offering is Crustacean Beverly Hills, which will have an Aphrodisiac Valentine's Day Menu — in addition to its a la carte menu — from Feb. 14-16. Some highlights include oyster shooters, seared scallops, surf and turf, and campfire strawberries. Reservations can be made here.

Plus, The Lonely Oyster in Los Angeles will offer its "Heartbreaker Menu" this weekend. It includes options such as the big eye tuna crudo, loup de mer, grilled ribeye, basque cheesecake and a speciality cocktail: the Mr. & Mrs. Pink Cocktail Set.

There is also Marelle in Santa Monica, which will have a special Valentine's Day menu for $95 per person. Options for dinner include U8 Maine sea scallop, Miyazaki wagyu, pan seared Long Island duck breast, a white chocolate cake and more.

Meanwhile, HATCH in Los Angeles has a special menu for two, at $150 per person. The menu includes dishes such as its staple Squid Ink Chicken Karaage, Tuna Taki Handroll, various yakitori including Duck Breast and more.

Valentine's Day at Beverly Center

With the holiday coming up, Beverly Center is offering a wide variety of luxury brands, timeless gifts and activities beyond just shopping for celebrating the season of love. For a personal touch, Apple is offering custom engraving on AirPods, and MCM has exclusive Valentine’s Day editions of its signature handbags. And for a fun, interactive date night, Lucky Strike is newly opened for bowling and entertainment. Lunar New Year at Disney California Adventure

Through Feb. 16, ring in the new year with Disney characters dressed in traditional clothes, culinary delights and festivities inspired by Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese traditions. Visitors also can catch Mulan's Lunar New Year procession at various times throughout the day. A pre-show to the World of Color show that showcases Mulan and friends, and celebrates family and friends.

126th Golden Dragon Parade

This free event has been rescheduled for March 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. It will make its way through the heart of Chinatown with colorful dragons, dancers and music groups. Grandstand seats cost $50 each.

Grammy Museum

Acclaimed music photographer Jay Blakesberg's latest exhibit "RetroBlakesberg: The Music Never Stopped" is on display through June 15, 2025.

Shark Lagoon Nights

On select Friday evenings, the Aquarium of the Pacific's Shark Lagoon will be open until 9 p.m. The free event allows visitors to get close to the ocean's ultimate predator. It will give them a chance to touch smaller sharks such as bamboo sharks and see sting rays and big sharks.

Lucky Strike Beverly Hills

Hit the bowling lanes in style at the new location in Beverly Center, featuring luxurious menus, unique cocktails, an expansive arcade and more. Boba Bear immersive pop-up

In celebration of the upcoming second season of Netflix's animated series "Arcane," Boba Bear Koreatown has teamed up with Riot Games to bring fans an immersive pop-up experience, transforming the restaurant into the show’s Last Drop Bar for a limited time. Through mid-February, visitors can step into a fully reimagined Boba Bear, complete with custom decor, exclusive activations and an "Arcane"-inspired beverage menu. The event is open to all ages. Tickets are $10 and include a beverage (excluding Shimmers). Costumes and cosplay aren’t required but encouraged. Reservations can be made here.

South Coast Botanic Astra Lumina Los Angeles

The nighly walk series has taken over the 87-acre botanic garden again this year. Visitors will get to walk around the garden's trails and special paths. The experience inlcudes lights, scenography, soundscape and projection to send visitors into an imaginative world. Tickets start at $29 per person.

Los Feliz Flea Market at Vintage Land

Although the name still includes "Los Feliz," the flea market has recently moved to a new, two-story space on the border of downtown LA and Echo Park and is now open on Saturdays. It is LA's only rooftop flea market — complete with views of the downtown skyline — and features two full floors of antique and vintage vendors. The flea also features food trucks, a full bar, a misting station for hot days, and is completely pet friendly — plus free admission and parking.

Hollyhock House

Self-guided tours of the Frank Loyd Wraight house are offered from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday to Saturday. Advance tour ticket purchase is recommended.
