The spooky season is over, but there are still many events happening across SoCal.
Here are some of the events worth checking out.
WeHo Public Library art installation
Equal Means Equal, a national nonprofit dedicated to the immediate publication, adoption and enforcement of the original Equal Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, has unveiled a public art installation titled "Final Impact," in collaboration with the city of West Hollywood. "Final Impact" is focused on the immediate need to publish the fully ratified Equal Rights Amendment to fight back against the civil and human rights rollbacks affecting women, girls and the LGBTQ community. The installation is currently on display through the end of the year.
85 years of Pink's Hot Dogs
Located on the corner of La Brea and Melrose, the Hollywood staple will be celebrating its 85th anniversary from Nov. 8-12. The five-night celebration will feature appearances by celebrities and public figures, as well as Pink’s signature "Chili Dogs for Charity" program that benefits local nonprofits. LA Mayor Karen Bass is set to visit on Nov. 8, George Lopez on Nov. 10 and Gabriel Iglesias on Nov. 11, among others.
LA Union Sation's tree lighting
Los Angeles Union Station’s ninth annual Tree Lighting will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Nov. 25 in the station’s historic Ticket Concourse. It is the first time this section of the station has been open to the public during the holiday season. The free event will feature live musical performances from Kingston Ska Collective with Members of Western Standard Ska Orchestra and Los Rebeldes Romanticos. There also will be a North Pole on the north patio with arts and crafts, milk and cookies and more.
Los Feliz Flea Market at Vintage Land
Although the name still includes "Los Feliz," the flea market has recently moved to a new, two-story space on the border of downtown LA and Echo Park and is now open on Saturdays. It is LA's only rooftop flea market — complete with views of the downtown skyline — and features two full floors of antique and vintage vendors. The flea also features food trucks, a full bar, a misting station for hot days, and is completely pet friendly — plus free admission and parking.
Hollyhock House
Self-guided tours of the Frank Loyd Wraight house are offered from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday to Saturday. Advance tour ticket purchase is recommended.
Picnicking at Echo Park Lake
Having officially opened in July, the restaurant Piknik has taken over Echo Park Lake's boathouse, with Scandinavian-inspired fare alongside a laidback ambiance. Located between the swan boats at the water's edge, Piknik is open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily and offers baskets filled with artisanal treats for date nights or impromptu city escapes in the park's surroundings.
