LOS ANGELES — Tommy Gelinas grew up in LA’s San Fernando Valley. He said he was aware how people “on the other side of the hill” lamented a visit to “The Valley” because of the excessive heat, or just because the huge, suburban, middle-class community was beneath them in stature.
“But as Valley kids, we had so much to do,” said Gelinas. "We really didn’t care.”
Gelinas now operates the “Valley Relics Museum” in a hangar at Van Nuys Airport that celebrates the Valley’s contribution to pop-culture around the world, including unique architecture, aerospace, the film industry, BMX bikes, skateboarding and shopping malls.
