Since starting at Spectrum News in 2020, multimedia journalist Chace Beech has covered a wide range of topics including local politics, 2021 midterm elections, election of Mayor Karen Bass, LA City Hall, LA Board of Supervisors, and LA’s homelessness crisis.
Chace holds a master’s degree in Journalism from the University of Southern California and a BA in English from Kenyon College in Ohio. After graduating from Kenyon, she joined the NBCU Page Program in New York.
Chace was a Pulitzer Fellow at the LA Times working on The Lives Lost, a memorial project commemorating those who died in California due to COVID-19. She was a finalist in the regional Society of Professional Journalists for television breaking news reporting and won Best TV Reporting in Student Media in 2020 at the LA Press Club Awards.
In 2022, she was awarded the third-place prize for her reporting by the LA Press Club at the National Arts and Entertainment Journalism Awards. At the onset of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Chace began covering the impact of the war in the U.S., speaking with Ukrainian Americans and refugees arriving in Los Angeles.
As a native Angeleno, Chace loves covering Los Angeles and the greater SoCal area. She holds the view that great storytelling comes down to creating greater compassion and understanding between people. When she’s not reporting, Chace loves spending time with family, reading a great book, browsing local flea markets, or exploring the beautiful California coastline.
