BOYLE HEIGHTS, Calif. – When Diosa Femme and Mala Munoz take the stage, their fans know it is show time. Once a year they host their annual live podcast party show in front of their loyal audience.

The show is called Locatora Radio. Their podcast started three years ago from scratch and has grown into a monster, with over 500,000 listens total, averaging about 12,000 listeners per episode.

“After being internet friends for a while, we followed each other on Twitter, Instagram, and even though we’re both from L.A., We didn’t meet up until a few weeks later and when we finally did we became friends,” Munoz said. “We started hanging out. And one day Diosa hit me up and asked me if I wanted to start a podcast and I said yeah let’s do it.”

The beauty of the podcast is clear. It is all about dealing with pain and overcoming. Both are under the age of 30 and empower their Latina listeners by discussing feminism and love.

As survivors of street harassment, stalking, and relationship abuse they both address those hard-hitting topics on the show.

“It’s an ongoing process. It’s a journey. I think it’s something our listeners can relate with too. That’s why they continue to tune in three years later,” Munoz said.

Their loyal fans say they feel a special connection too.

“They’re both Latinas. They’re both around my age. They’re both out here making it work and it’s really inspiring,” one fan said.

“I want them to feel empowered and I want them to feel like that they have full autonomy over their lives and to make whatever decision that’s right for them,” said Femme. “Even if that’s different for what their family has in mind for them and I want them to feel like they’re a community.”

The podcast is all about Latinas and women knowing their power being confident with every step they take.
