LOS ANGELES — You know her from “Saved by the Bell” and “Beverly Hills, 90210,” and more recently from her work on the Food Network and MTV’s “Deliciousness.”
Now, Tiffani Thiessen is on a mission to revamp your leftovers with her new cookbook.
Thiessen joined Lisa McRee in the LA Times kitchen to discuss her passion for cooking and whip up a recipe from her book.
“My very first memories [were] being that little girl peering through the kitchen, looking at all these women, having fun in the kitchen, laughing, eating, conversing, you know, And I just wanted to be with them because it looks fun. So that was kind of my first sort of intro into cooking and food,” Thiessen shared. “Even still, to this day, my kids are very nostalgic about certain recipes that my mom makes.”
Thiessen’s new cookbook “Here We Go Again: Recipes and Inspiration to Level up Your Leftovers,” is all about reducing food waste and making leftovers fun again.
“The idea sort of sparked at the beginning of the pandemic. We were all scared to go to the grocery store... so I was really adamant about making sure not to waste anything,” Thiessen explained. “I’ve never seen a cookbook like this ever where it really sort of showcases food for people in a different way, not just big recipes from fancy chefs that have ingredients that you’ve never heard of. This is food that you probably already have in your pantry, already have in your fridge, and really showing different ways to use them.”
Thiessen will able cooking up a recipe and signing copies of her cookbook at the LA Times Food Bowl on Sept. 24.
“Here We Go Again: Recipes and Inspiration to Level up Your Leftovers,” will be in bookstores on Sept. 26.
