California proposition 187 was a 1994 ballot initiative to establish state-run citizenship screening and to prohibit undocumented immigrants from using non-emergency health care, public education and other services.
Prop 187 was passed by voters and later found to be unconstitutional.
Marking the 25th anniversary of the failed proposition, Los Angeles' Times Gustavo Arellano has produced a podcast that will take listeners on a historical trip through American immigration policy.
Watch Los Angeles Times Today at 7 and 10 p.m. Monday through Friday on Spectrum News 1.
