Representing Carson, California, Mayor Lula Davis-Holmes's favorite thing about being a legislator is serving the community that she loves. The biggest lesson she has learned during her time in office is the importance of being flexible, responsive, and resilient.

One thing Davis-Holmes wishes people knew about her job is that it is only suitable for someone who truly cares for their constituents. She would say her biggest accomplishment in office so far has been increasing the city's general fund surplus from $45 million to $222.9 million.

Davis-Holmes's first job was working in the stockroom at Sears. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her grandchildren and biking.
