Representing California's 28th District, State Assemblymember Gail Pellerin was inspired to run for office because she noticed a lack of women representing Santa Cruz County. She would say her biggest accomplishment so far has been supporting a stronger democracy for her constituents, including passing bills that remove voting barriers.

Pellerin's top priority for the rest of her term is advocating for affordable and accessible mental health care and protecting voting rights. She would say the one organization making a positive impact in her community is Rising Worldwide, an anti-human trafficking organization led by survivors.

Three words that Pellerin would say capture her district are "redwoods, rollercoasters, and community." If she could have lunch with any historical figure, she would choose Michelle Obama.
