Mayor Julian Gold of Beverly Hills was inspired to run for office after his community helped him through a terrible illness. He realized the local government was "responsible for most of the things that make life pleasant" and became mayor as a way to give back. 

The biggest lesson Gold has learned in elected office is that the best responses to issues come from patience and deliberate action. 

The three words Gold associates with Beverly Hills are "friendly, village, and warm."
