EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Alissa Walker, transportation writer and editor of the Torched newsletter, joined "Inside the Issues" host Amrit Singh to discuss Los Angeles's position on ambitious transportation projects for the 2028 Summer Olympics.

"We had this pretty good plan. It was 28 big infrastructure projects for transit that were to be done by 2028. We're not doing so good on that goal," Walker said. "Hopefully, the subway to UCLA where athletes are going to be staying will be finished in 2027. Cross your fingers after federal funding to help us get that done."

Walker also noted that besides transportation issues, extreme heat in LA could pose potential challenges to the 2028 Games.

"The heat, I mean, how are we going to expect people to move around the city, especially without cars, if it's 100 degrees, 105 degrees? I mean, what are we planning to do about that?"
