More than 3 million people are expected to travel through the Los Angeles International Airport this Thanksgiving – that is equivalent to 80 percent of the entire population of L.A. The airport is offering free bus rides and is expanding its shuttle service to help alleviate traffic.
George Hobica, syndicated journalist and founder of Airfarewatchdog, said this time of year can be a great chance to get away and fly internationally for a great price.
“I think it would be cheaper to fly from L.A. to Paris than L.A. to Boise. So, interestingly, overseas travel is often cheaper. Especially in business class. If you’re a business class fan, the airlines do not take those business class seats out but the business class passengers are not flying over the holidays. So, you’ll see some incredible deals,” he said.
But, there are other options to flying in and out of the Southland this holiday season and all year-round, including John Wayne International Airport, Ontario International Airport and Bob Hope Airport, to name a few.
On this episode we talk to Brian Sumers, Senior Aviation Business Editor for Skift, about the state of Southern California air travel in general and why LAX is rated the worst airport in the world.
We take a look at LAX’s new shuttle service and LAX-it policy, and Elizabeth Harryman, Travel Editor of AAA Westways Magazine, gives tips and tricks to navigating your way through airports easily and zipping through security to reach your destination without a hitch.
