Alex Cohen talks to Eleni Kounalakis, the first woman elected to become California's Lieutenant Governor. The two discuss how her politics reflect her personal life and talk about how Kounalakis proves that 2018 is the "year of the woman."
"I also think that what people are recognizing is that it isn’t a question of are men better, are women better," Kounalakis explains. "It’s men and women working together with parity in equal numbers results in the best outcomes in almost any organization."
Kounalakis and her husband Markos have two sons and live in San Francisco. During her campaign, 52-year-old Kounalakis was the only candidate in the race to visit all 58 counties in California.
