LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles’ 12-month guaranteed income program BIG:LEAP wrapped up for thousands of families at the end of March, ending a lifeline that provided $1,000 each month with no strings attached.

Spectrum News 1 spoke with a single mother who participated in the program with 3,200 othe residents and says the monthly cash infusion helped her afford permanent housing for her and her daughter.
